As a guide, it is recommended that Foundation to Year 2 complete approximately fifteen minutes each night (essentially the home reading program), Year 3/4 students do approximately thirty minutes and Year 5/6 students forty-five to sixty minutes.
All students are expected to be involved in relevant, meaningful and enjoyable learning activities at home. Glenroy West educators believe appropriate home learning reinforces classroom learning and provides an opportunity for their own learning.
Homework tasks are effective if a little can be done each night and children with parents/carers are encouraged to plan a time together for study or revision.
At Glenroy West Primary School, homework is sent home on a Monday and returned in the same week on a Friday across the school.
Homework Club is held in the BER building on Thursday afternoons from 3:15pm until 4:00pm for students from Grade 3 to 6. Students attending will need a permission form, which can be collected from the Office. They will be supervised by a member of teaching staff, who can also provide assistance in the concepts addressed in home learning tasks.
