At Glenroy West Primary School, we recognise the power of student voice in shaping each child's education. We believe that providing students with the opportunity to actively participate, engage, lead, and learn is crucial for their development, both at the local and global level.
By empowering students, we enhance their engagement, enrich their participation, and help them take ownership of their learning and development. We also contribute to creating a positive learning environment for everyone.
Student Voice goes beyond merely sharing ideas and opinions. It's about giving students the power to influence change and collaborate with adults in making decisions about what and how they learn, as well as how their learning is assessed. This approach leads to improved educational outcomes.
Student Agency refers to the autonomy and power students experience in the learning environment. Student voice and agency are intrinsically linked, with agency enabling students to direct and take responsibility for their learning, ultimately creating independent and self-regulating learners.
Student Leadership involves listening to, clarifying, and advocating on behalf of their peers. Student leaders develop a strong sense of responsibility to help others and model leadership principles and values. Trust, autonomy, and relationships are enhanced through the development of these leadership qualities.
We believe that all learners possess leadership potential.
