At Glenroy West Primary School, our cutting-edge STEAM program caters to students from Foundation to Year 6. This specialised area of study integrates Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics, sparking curiosity and creativity while fostering innovation and growth within our community. Our dynamic STEAM program equips students with essential skills, empowering them to be smarter, more innovative, and adept at using emerging technologies to solve problems and expand their knowledge.
Our Digital Technologies curriculum transforms students into confident and creative developers of digital solutions by applying information systems and unique problem-solving techniques. Students gain in-depth knowledge of digital systems, data, information, and processes associated with creating digital solutions, enabling them to actively address current and future needs.
The curriculum offers practical opportunities for students to investigate the capabilities of information systems and innovatively convert data into digital solutions through computational, design, and systems thinking. It encourages discerning decision-making by considering various ways of managing interactions between digital systems, people, data, and processes, while evaluating potential benefits and risks for society and the environment.
In today's increasingly complex world, it is vital for students to develop the confidence and knowledge to critically analyse and creatively respond to design challenges. Technologies play a crucial role in enriching and transforming societies, as well as managing natural and constructed environments.
Our Design and Technologies curriculum allows students to create high-quality solutions across various technology contexts. They consider the economic, environmental, and social impacts of technological change and how the selection and use of technologies contribute to a sustainable future, while also taking into account ethical, legal, aesthetic, and functional factors that shape design processes.
Through Design and Technologies, students plan and manage projects from conception to realisation, applying design and systems thinking to investigate ideas, generate and refine concepts, and produce and evaluate designed solutions. They develop a sense of pride, satisfaction, and enjoyment in their ability to create innovative solutions.
